The Reality of Nashville: Coming Soon to a Television Near You

The television show Nashville, despite some sagging ratings this season, has shined a spotlight on its namesake city as the new hot tourist destination. So, of course, several other TV networks have decided to jump on that momentum – with six new reality shows depicting the Nashville area and its high-profile residents.

 Thicker than Water

Thicker Than Water follows gospel jazz musician Ben Tankard and his family. Interestingly, this won’t take place in Nashville but in Murfreesboro, where they live in a three-story extravagant mansion. According to the man himself, this show will portray the area well – and who knows? Maybe tourists flying in to see Nashville will start making side trips to the ‘Boro.

Brought to you by the same company that produced such classics as the ‘Real Housewives’ conglomerate is the new show Private Lives of Nashville Wives. It will feature the six high-profile women, four of whom are associated with the music industry through their husbands. However, according to producer Douglas Ross, the tone will completely different from the ‘let’s see how stupid we can make everyone look’ of LA and NYC reality shows. He wants to protect Nashville’s ‘brand’ and really show people what it’s like to live in Music City.

A&E will be following several hot new country stars on the new show Crazy Hearts: Nashville. Love, triangles and heavy competition will turn into lyrics and passionate singing before your eyes.

Lifetime’s new series Chasing Nashville is similar – but their performers are four young Appalachian singers, not Nashville natives, trying to make it in country music.

CMT’s Cassadee Pope: Frame by Frame is less like a reality show and more like a ‘docu-series.’ It followed The Voice Season 3’s champion Cassadee Pope as she begins her career as a country artist and releases her first album titled ‘Frame by Frame.’ The six-episode series is now over, but you can catch all the episodes on the CMT website.

Thicker Than Water premiered Sunday, November 10th on Bravo.

Secret Lives of Nashville Wives will premier on February 24th on TNT.

Crazy Hearts: Nashville will premier in January 2014 on A&E.

Chasing Nashville premiered Oct. 22 on Lifetime.
